Open Access and Creative Commons Licenses
As of July 15, 2023, The Texas Heart Institute Journal is fully Open Access. Articles published in The Journal will be freely available to anyone with internet access, for reading, mining, and sharing. As a result, others will be able to build on the work, spurring scientific progress.
Creative Commons Licenses
Authors retain copyright to their articles by selecting the appropriate Creative Commons (CC) license. Also see Fees.
CC BY License
The CC BY License is the least restrictive and is generally granted when agencies that funded the research require it. Reusers can distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.
CC BY-NC License
The CC BY-NC License also allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The work can be used only for noncommercial purposes.
